Choose Flannel Sheets

One of the first things you need to do is opt for flannel sheets. Flannel sheets and fleece bedding are great. It’s also a very effective yet inexpensive way for you to avoid feeling the chill of winter. Fleece and flannel are all great options and they are very reasonably priced too. They will keep your home warmer and both materials are brilliant insulators. This means that your body heat will bounce back and keep you warm, more than you would expect with cotton bedding.  You can also use Roman blinds on your windows, as a way to retain heat in the bedroom.

Use an Electric Blanket

Another thing you can do is try and use electric blankets. Electric blankets, or weighted blankets are great as they can help you to lower your energy bill and they are great insulators too. On top of this, they keep you warm and cozy. If you don’t want to use electricity then one thing you can do is try and use weighted blankets. Getting a higher tog duvet is also a very good thing to do. If you don’t feel as though you can fork out for a very expensive duvet then you have nothing to worry about. You can layer your bed with different options and when you do, you will soon notice that your home is much warmer and cozier. Just try and make sure that you opt for a duvet that has a tog rating of 10.5 to 12.5 if you can so you can get the best of both worlds.

Hot Water Bottle

Another thing you can use is a hot water bottle. A hot water bottle is a great way for you to stay warm at night and you would be surprised at what a difference it can make to your home. Heat helps you to relax as it stimulates blood flow and it also does a lot to improve circulation. It makes you feel much more comfortable with your surroundings and a single hot water bottle is usually more than enough for one person. If you want to help get the best result then you should put it at your feet, so that you can get the biggest benefit.

You can also put down a carpet or a rug, as this is a good way for you to retain heat in the room. If you can keep things like this in mind then it will help you more than you realize. If you want to get some help choosing a rug then wool is usually a great way to go but if you want something a little easier to maintain then you can opt for any rug you like, as long as it’s woven, or nice and thick. Jute won’t hold as much heat, so be mindful of that if you can.
