Repurposing items we have already used once is a great way to help the earth process all the leftovers from our lives. These Plastic Bottle Snowman Bottles are a fun way to use up the millions of plastic bottles that are taking over our oceans. Welcome to Sustainable Craft Challenge Group! This group is hosted monthly by Julie at Sum of their Stories.
This month our theme is Winter (to see our Christmas theme, check it out here.) I made a delightful rosemary wreath that would be sweet on the back of the dining room chair!
For the Winter theme, I made a super cute craft to make with my year-old grandson. I'll have to supervise him carefully as all things end up in his mouth, but in the future, he should be able to do this on his own. Make these adorable snowmen at Sunday School, on a Snow Day, with your Girl Scouts, or as a classroom craft. People of all ages will enjoy doing this one!
To make this snowman craft you will need the following:
Plastic water bottles of all shapes and sizes
orange felt or fabric
black buttons
baby's sock for the hat
1" by 6" strip of fabric for the scarf
cotton balls for stuffing in the water bottles
Steps for making the snowman craft:
1. Cut out a "carrot" nose for the snowman from the felt or fabric
2. Count out buttons for the eyes and mouth.
3. Count out three buttons for the belly.
4. Roll the baby sock into a hat by rolling the top of the sock down to the foot part.
5. Stuff the cotton balls into the plastic bottle.
6. Glue on the buttons for the eyes and mouth.
7. Glue on the carrot nose.
8. Glue on the buttons on the belly.
9. Make another one!
Display these charming snowpeople in your home or give them as gifts to your friends at the nursing home for a spot of winter cheer. I think my winter vignette is a fun way to celebrate all things snow!

Oh, these are so cute! Great for kids to make and so inexpensive for groups. Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteSo cute! I love them all. I made something similar to this with my girls one year. It's such a fun craft, and the kids enjoy it. My favorite is that short snowman. Such an adorable craft. Thank you for sharing.

These snowmen are adorable! I help teach Children's Church and our group is from age 5 through middle school. It's hard to find activities for that wide of a range. These would be a PERFECT option. pinning for later. Thank you! -Marci @ Old Rock Farmhouse
