Picnicking with Le Petit Verre Canned Bubbly Rose #winePW

I am the host for #WinePW (Pairing Weekend) and it is my first time hosting.  I had a tremendous amount of help from my friend, Camilla and I thank her for supporting me in this first attempt.  Like any good party, we have a theme of Picnics and Canned Wine, one of the newest trends in packaging wine!  Let me tell you about my wine and my pairings.

Bob and I love to picnic and we have done a lot of picnicking over our 45 married years, and some before we were married.  When we moved to St. Charles ten years ago, we loved searching out new places to picnic. Since we didn't have company this year for Memorial Day we decided to do a picnic lunch at Creve Coeur Lake in Maryland Heights.  It is the largest park in the St. Louis park system and gets a lot of visitors each day.  Several rowing teams practice there and it is large enough for small sailboats.  It's fun to watch the people on the lake.

Our menu consisted of Chicken Caprese Sandwiches, Green Goddess Dip and fresh veggies, and a fun strawberry shortcake dessert made with Twinkies. With it, we served some delicious Le Petit Verre canned Bubbly Rose which was absolutely perfect for this lunch.  The wine comes in narrow cans, each having 250 ml.  Le Petit Verre is French for "the small glass."  We found it to be a healthy pour.  The cans do not state a vintage, but I learned that the fruit is from the 2021 harvest.  The rose is 50% Pinot Noir, 30% syrah, 10% Pinot Gris and 10% Viognier.  The grapes are grown at the foothills of the Andes Mountains.

We would certainly consider this wine again for when we picnic or camp.  It is a great way to transport wine in rough terrain.

Here's the recipe for the Green Goddess Dip.  Everything goes into the food processor and wala! you are done!

  1. It looks like you had a glorious day for your picnic! I had the Le Petit Verre also and enjoyed the Bubbly Rose. Your green goddess dip is going on my recipe list for the summer!

  2. Thanks for choosing such a fun topic Terri. I'm going to be on the lookout for this wine and I might just make that dressing to add to a Charcuterie.
