Have you tried canned wine yet? It's the industry's growing category of wine. Join the Wine Pairing Weekend group for some canned wine tastings and food pairings that will be perfect for your summer picnics. Consumers of all ages are flocking to the convenient portability and portion control of this new packaging. Participants will be using wines from many regions and varietals. The event will be held on June 11, 2022 with posts going live!
What I am loving about canned wine:
- Easily portable
- Doesn't require opening a whole bottle of wine
- The packaging is lighter
- It's better for the environment
- Direct shipping
- New way to sample wines
- Great deal in that the 250 ml can is 1/3 of a bottle, so with 4 cans you get a bottle plus
Canned wines emerged in the 1930s when Gottfried Krueger Brewing Company introduced canned beer. Due to a lack of technology and the corrosive nature of metal and acid, the canned wines didn't fare well back then. Canned wines were all but forgotten when Bianchi Winery found success with their wine coolers in the late 70s. With a new interior coated can and a less tinny taste, canned wine has found a new era.
