The Pinterest Challenge is reorganizing for the 2022 year with our new hosts, Julie from Sum of Our Stories and Gail from Purple Hues and Me who is challenging us to be more sustainable in our crafting. This month we were to repurpose items from our kitchen. I don't know why, but I cannot seem to throw away these Altoid tin cans, so I decided to center my craft around this item.
Many of you know that my husband and I purchased a teardrop camper a couple of years ago. The space in that tiny camper is very limited. We love to play games, but hauling them in a crate in the car doesn't make them very accessible at night when we are tucked in bed. I looked around for some inspiration and found it here on Pinterest to make this teeny tiny games kit from the Altoid tin.
My first task was to see what I had to make this tin with. Of course, I had a tin ready to go! I found a Farkle game, a Left Right Center game, a short pencil, and some post-it notes for scorekeeping. I looked for and found a printable checkers game which I printed. I found some chips that would be perfect for the Left Right Center game (currency) and I painted one-half of those with a black dot so I could use them for checkers, too.
I had to play around to get all the game pieces in the tin, but I managed! Next, I drew a little camping scene on the tin and labeled it. I chose to use a paint pin thinking that a sticker might get dirty and peel off around the edges.
While doing my research, I found a lot of other great ideas for using the Altoid tins that will be perfect for camping. It will be fun to make even more!

That is just so cute Terri! You did well getting 3 games in there and it takes practically no space at all - brilliant!
ReplyDeleteSuch a clever idea, Terri, and a real space-saver for camping! I'm amazed that you fit all of that in an Altoid tin.
ReplyDeleteOh my, Terri! How fun and adorable is this! I bet you're thinking constantly on how to make cherished things smaller for the camper! How cool is this game container! Super great idea!
ReplyDeleteIt's so cute! Kids would love it!
ReplyDeleteWhat a great idea! I'm looking forward to seeing what else you come up with. :)
ReplyDeleteThis is adorable Terri! My grandparents sold their house and traveled the country for years before they settled down again before my Poppa passed. They sold the fifth wheel to my parents, so I'm going to have to make one of these for them. Come to think of it, I'm going to make one for my kids. They go to youth camp during the summer, and this would be perfect for the bus ride up! I don't know how you got all of that in there! Great job! I'd love for you to come share this on Crafty Creators Link Party which opens Thursday thru Monday.
