This is such a small item that it can make a huge impact. If you work from home like millions of people or spend time in different parts of your home, I’m not necessarily by the front door; you might miss the doorbell.
It is a small thing that doesn’t take long to fix, and it only takes a 2nd to test. Each month just give your doorbell a little press.
Taps and toilets
Your taps and toilets are hard workers, and sometimes we don’t notice the minor issues. A tiny drip that goes on for ages will start to impact your water bills. But sometimes, a dripping tap can be a sign of other issues.
Every month check all of your taps and toilets. If there is an issue, don’t be tempted to DIY it, it is all too easy to make a mistake regarding the plumbing. If you have an older plumbing system, it might be time to modify and upgrade it with water-saving options and a backflow installation.
Ceiling fans
Your ceiling fans can play an essential part in helping to maintain the temperate of your home. Ceiling fans usually come with two options - in the summer you use counterclockwise to circulate the cold air in a downward motion.
In the winter, however, you change the direction and the clockwise. The clockwise motion pulls up the atmosphere and pushes warm air down.
Gutters and downpipe
Over the fall and winter months, the gutters and downspouts are prime candidates for getting clogged up.
Not only that, but it isn’t uncommon for the down pouts to become detached, leaky, or have other issues.
When the gutters are clogged, you might notice water spilling around at different parts of the property. This water can cause damage to the walls, windows, doors, and more. If the downspout is misaligned, it might also cause water to pool and damage the foundations.
Schedule regular gutter and pipe cleaning, and you won’t need to worry about the rest of it - this is more important if you have a two-story or more home.
Roofing
The problem with roofing is that it can be difficult to perform regular maintenance unless you have someone to do it for you. Our roves are the first protective barrier against the elements and keep our homes at a reasonable temperature.
If you haven’t had the roof inspected since you moved in, then it might be time to book one. When it comes to your roof, preventative is undoubtedly better than cure. Even the slightest bit of damage can become a huge issue.

If you have a few small cracks on the driveway paving, then you have two choices. You can get them repaired while they are small, or you can be prepared to pay for a much higher replacement cost later down the line.
More minor cracks are usually a sign of a more significant issue. If you plan to sell your home, and there are some noticeable deep cracks, this can often be enough to warrant further investigation.
HVAC
When we think of ways to keep our energy bills low and the temperature of our house as comfortable as possible, the HVAC plays a considerable part. Having the filters cleaned out by a professional will increase its lifespan, but part of making sure that you get the most from your HVAC will have it serviced every year around springtime.
