Our current neighborhood's Fourth of July Celebration!
Our neighborhood is known for its July 4th celebrations. We are a New Urbanist community that takes great civic pride so we do a lot of wonderful events throughout the summer season. July 4th is all about the community gatherings, a parade at 10, a concert at 6, and fireworks at 10 p.m. to round out the day. Lots of homes decorate with American flags and red, white, and blue. The lunch and dinner hours are all about the family gatherings, though, and that's where this All-American Bacon-Wrapped Hot Dog falls into place!
Could there be anything more American than a bacon-wrapped hot dog? We don't think so at our house! So we made these delicious "dogs" to celebrate our Independence Day in style! Topped with our Patriotic Slaw, you have a celebration on a plate! Make the slaw the night before to get the most flavor from the slaw!

A all beef hot dog wrapped in smoked bacon and topped with our Patriotic Slaw!
Ingredients
- 2 cups Patriotic Slaw
- 8 hot dogs
- 8 slices bacon
- 8 toasted hot dog buns
- 2 T soft butter
- condiments of your choosing
Instructions
- Preheat the grill to medium.
- Starting at the top of the hot dog, wrap each hot dog in a spiral motion with a slice of bacon.
- Split the hot dog buns and butter on the inside.
- Grill the hot dogs turning often so the bacon doesn't burn and to prevent flare ups.
- Toast the buns on the grill lightly.
- Place one cooked hot dog onto the toasted bun. Top with your condiments of choice. Top each dog with a heaping tablespoon or two of Patriotic Slaw.
Notes:
Make the slaw the night before. For a shortcut, buy premade slaw and add thinly sliced red bell pepper and chopped blueberries to the mix. Refrigerate overnight.
