Welcome to the March Pinterest Challenge! The purpose of this Pinterest Challenge is to motivate us to not just pin, but to make it happen! Our group has new leadership and I would like to introduce them to you! Alexandra is the creator behind EyeLoveKnots, where she shares her own crochet designs, plastic canvas projects and other yarn related crafts, and On Rockwood Lane, where she shares everything else! If you don't find yarn and a coffee mug in her hands, you might find her baking in the kitchen, tending to her garden, re-decorating for a new season or holiday or cuddling with her two cats.
This month's challenge is Magical Fairy Gardens.
I adore fairy gardens and have at least four in my backyard in various places. It is just so much fun to set them up! Last year I noticed that at least two were needed refreshing, so I went to Pinterest to see if there were any pins about refreshing fairy gardens and found this one: Updating a Mother's Day Fairy Garden from the Mini Garden Guru. It had some good tips for refreshing your existing fairy gardens, which is what I wanted to do. If you want to see more pins about gardening, check out my Pinterest Board Garden Club. I am a co-leader of my neighborhood's garden club, so I am constantly pinning new and fun things!
After reading the post from Mini Garden Guru, I got to work. I decided to bring my garden indoors so I could have access to water and soap at an easy height.
This is what my garden looked like before I started. I removed each item and decided if I wanted to keep it or salvage it. I cleaned out the leaves and raked up the soil with a fork. I added a bit of granular fertilizer.
Doesn't it look so much better already? I had decided to completely redo this garden with a teardrop camper to celebrate the camping season we started last year. I was so excited to order these little items from Etsy.
My husband and I created the little firepit ourselves. We used a battery-operated tealight. I used a black magic marker to color it black, so it wouldn't be so noticeable. He cut twigs from a bush in our garden to size and we hot glued them together. It turned out so cute!
Once we placed in our camper, chairs, and firepit, we added stones, plants, and marbles (to mimic water.) Here is our finished product!
Tips: We placed a double layer of heavy-duty aluminum foil under the firepit to provide a barrier between the soil and the candle. Because of the camper, it will probably be moved indoors during inclement weather.

That fire pit is adorable, and I love that you did it together with your husband! Looking at your garden, I feel like I am sitting right there enjoying the fire and some hot chocolate. Really lovely little garden!

Awh, it's so sweet and the fire is just perfect. It's funny because when we make things like this we can expect them to last forever, forgetting that most things look better after a refresh of some sort.
