Every season comes with its own joyful atmosphere, Christmas has elves and presents, summer has BBQs and vacations, but one of the most interesting is autumn. Perhaps it's because the leaves change and creativity is in the air, or maybe it's down to the need to celebrate something before the winter takes hold. For whatever reason, you live the autumn here are some top tips for how to enhance the experience.
Pick up a Pumpkin Spice
A pumpkin spice latte, first developed by Starbucks back in 2003, is a favorite for most people at this time of year. That's why the major coffee chains and even the smaller local shops, are now guaranteed to stock them as the weather changes and leaves turn brown. What could be better than going to meet friends in the city or picking up a pumpkin spice for the road on a day trip? It fits with the season so well and tastes delicious. But watch out, it packs one serious sugar-kick.
Watch a Horror Movie
The interlude between summer and winter, also known as autumn, is famous for many good reasons. One of them is Halloween, which has a long old tradition of dressing up as a witch or goblin to frighten off evil spirits returning to their homes. The 1st of November was once the Celtic New Year, and it's easy to see why. There is change and creativity in the air, and winter is just around the corner. Mark the period by making it a horror season. Take a deep dive into the genre and discover some serious cool connections.
Take a Nature Walk
With leaves turning to gold and red, and a lovely nip in the air now is a perfect time to walk in the woods or hike up the hillside. A nature walk at any time of the year will leave you feeling inspired and reenergized, but in autumn, it's all the more rewarding. At no other time of the year will you see the colors change in the same way, and get a sense in the air that something is happening in the world that is somewhat magical.
Decorate
Autumn is also an excellent opportunity to get creative and decorate your home. It's a short season, but it's worth making the most of, especially when you have some friends over, and they can see how you are embracing the moment with such joy. There are lots of ideas online for bringing some of the autumn season into your home. Decorating ideas include pumpkins on the steps outside or under deck ceilings – uncarved ones last longer – and closed oranges that produce a potent seasonal perfume.
Pick a Pumpkin
Why wait for the shops to start stocking pumpkins When you can pick your own. Many farmers these days allow people to come and pick their own pumpkin from the patch for a small fee. It's a joyful day out for you and your partner, or family. You will get to experience the gorgeous autumn weather and walk among the pumpkins before they end up in the store. It's a good idea to buy a few, some to carve and some to display outside your door.
Autumn hikes are my favorite because the weather is crisp and less humid. I think that decorating for Halloween and thanksgiving are also a lot of fun.
