With the right tools and basic knowledge of the steps, you’ll be enjoying the cool breeze of your ceiling fan in no time. Let’s go over what you’ll need and how to make it happen.
When it comes to having the right tools on hand, you’ll need:
Wire strippers
Pliers
Screwdriver
9/64” Drillbit
Wire tester
Electric drill
Ladder
Once you’ve gathered all of your materials, follow these steps to install your fan safely and correctly:
- Make sure the power is shut off at the circuit breaker and the lightswitch in the room is turned off. Use a wire tester to verify that the power is off.
- Disconnect the existing wires and screws from the ceiling light fixture.
- Install the ceiling bracket for the fan.
- Wire the ceiling fan. The most common wiring instances are a standard pull chain, a pre-installed receiver, or a remote receiver. Look at your fan’s manual for specific instructions.
- Finish installing either the canopy or motor housing.
- Install the blades according to your instruction manual.
- Install the Lighting.
- Use the remote controls included to program your fan or change the speed.
