We are such a divided nation these days that I found I struggled with the book for a while. It wasn't until I made that discovery that I enjoyed the book at all. It seems that history has a way of repeating itself.
A Reckless Love by
The book's tension starts immediately when you pick up that the KKK is interfering with a murder trial and that Black Americans are being subjected to cruelty now that slavery has been abolished. The main characters in the book, Aurora and Zane, meet each other while the trial is being set up and Zane, a deputy marshall comes to town. Aurora gets in his way and on his nerves when she is able to calm down her local neighbors when they challenge Zane to get of town and let them handle their own business, without the government's interference.
However, we get to see Aurora and Zane develop a relationship and understand the best about each other, which leads to a partnership throughout the rest of the book. The book is tackling sensitive material such as racism and the KKK while Zane tries to protect his witnesses.
This is the third and last book in the series, and while you can read it as a stand-alone, I do suggest you read the other two books as well. There are some fun characters that you will get to know and love. I do recommend this book as a fun read.
I received a copy of this book from Revell Publishing. The review is my own opinion.
