The Prickly Pear is not actually a pear... it is the fruit from the Prickly Pear cactus. The taste is a strawberry, watermelon and pear mix. The flavor is definitely sweet, but it is natural sweetness.
Here's my recipe:
3 ounces clear tequila
2 ounces orange-flavored liqueur
2 ounces freshly-squeezed lime juice
1 ounce prickly pear syrup
Lime and kosher salt for garnish
Begin by running a wedge of lime around the edge of your margarita glass. Dip in kosher salt to coat. In a cocktail shaker filled with ice, add the tequila, orange liqueur, lime juice, and prickly pear syrup. Shake vigorously. Strain into your prepared margarita glasses filled will ice. Garnish with a lime slice to serve. Isn't it so pretty?

I had my first prickly pear cocktail while in Arizona last year too. It was delicious and now I can make one at home. Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteAccording to Stanford Medical, It is indeed the SINGLE reason women in this country live 10 years longer and weigh on average 19 KG less than we do.
ReplyDelete(And really, it is not about genetics or some secret exercise and EVERYTHING to do with "HOW" they are eating.)
BTW, I said "HOW", not "what"...
