For our opening day, I decided to make these Ghostly Popcorn Balls for you! They are easy and only have 4 ingredients to make the popcorn balls. Then I dip those in Chocoley's White Chocolate melts and attach a darling Wilton's candy to the top. I also add some Wilton sprinkles to set it all off. They are adorable and delicious, too.
Some tips to share while making popcorn balls. I always have the worst time making the ball part of the recipe. Even though I butter my hands, sometimes that marshmallowy goo will not let go. I learned that if I wash and butter my hands each time, I get nice looking popcorn balls!
Yield: 8
Ghostly Popcorn Balls
Just 4 ingredients for the popcorn balls, plus cute decorations!
prep time: 5 Mcook time: 35 Mtotal time: 40 M
ingredients:
- 16 cups popped popcorn (check the label, it may be 2 bags)
- one 10 oz bag of mini marshmallows
- 1/4 c butter (1/2 stick)
- 12 oz Chocoley White Chocolate wafers
- candy decorations, I love Wilton's options!
instructions:
How to cook Ghostly Popcorn Balls
- Place the popcorn in a large bowl.
- In a large glass bowl. melt the mini marshmallows and butter in the microwave, in 30-second intervals, stir occasionally until smooth.
- Pour the melted mixture over the popcorn Stir with a spatula until the popcorn is coated.
- Butter your hands and begin to form the popcorn into balls.
- Place the balls on a baking sheet lined with a silicone mat or parchment paper. Allow the balls to cool, about 30 minutes.
- Melt the white candy melts in 30-second intervals. Stir. When all the chips are melted but chocolate is still thick, you are ready to dip!
- Dip the popcorn ball halfway in the white chocolate. Dip all the balls. Add the candy decorations to each ball. You may have to add some of the white chocolate to the back of the decorations to make them stick.
