Now to the recipe! I have wanted to make these since I saw them at the State Fair years ago. Those apple frites were dipped in funnel cake batter and sprinkled with powdered sugar. They were like eating a miniature apple pie! In fact, you could order a scoop of vanilla ice cream to go with them.
Some tips for making these apple fries: keep the slices rather thick. The thin ones seem to be less delicious. The thicker ones have a tiny bit of crunch and more apple flavor. Be sure to peel the apple as the skin doesn't do well in the air fryer. If you want, add 1 teaspoon of vanilla paste to the dip. It deepens the flavor!

Air Fryer Apple Fries with Cream Cheese Dip
Apple Fries that are dipped in cream cheese is one of the pleasures of eating!

ingredients:
For the Apple Slices
- 1 Envy Apple, large, peeled and cut in wedges
- 1/2 c crushed graham cracker crumbs
- 1/4 c Bob's Red Mill Hazelnut Flour
- 1 T cornstarch
- 1 t cinnamon
- 1 egg
For the Dip
- 1 block cream cheese, softened
- 1 8 oz container of whipped topping, thawed
- 1/3 c prepared caramel syrup
instructions:
How to cook Air Fryer Apple Fries with Cream Cheese Dip
For the Apple Slices
- Beat egg in a small bowl.
- Add cinnamon and beat again.
- In a separate bowl combine the hazelnut flour and the graham cracker crumbs.
- Peel apple and cut into wedges.
- Pour cornstarch in a large ziplock bag.
- Add apple slices and shake.
- Dip the apple slices in the egg, then the crumb mixture and lay in the basket of the air fryer.
- Spray with cooking spray on each side
- Fry slices 10 minutes at 400.
- Use tongs to remove the slices and put on a plate.
Make the Dip
- Using a mixer, combine the cool whip and cream cheese.
- Beat until smooth.
- Add in caramel sauce.
- Beat until well incorporated.
- Spoon into a serving bowl.
