A Glitter of Gold Book Review

I was given a copy of this book by Revell Reads in exchange for my honest opinion.

A Glitter of Gold by Liz Johnson is the second in a series called the Georgia Coast Romance books. You can read this book as a stand-alone, as it has new characters and plot.  A Sparkle of Silver was the first book in this series and I cannot wait to get my hands on that book!

The book's main character is Anne, who has a back history that has made her very leery of romance and relationships. She's recently out of prison, falsely accused, and has moved away from her childhood home of California, to Savannah, Georgia, where she gives pirate tours.  She meets up with Carter, a museum director who is trying his best to save the museum from financial ruin.  Carter has a diary that has been in his family for years, that describes a shipwreck.  Anne finds an artifact on the shore of the beach near her home, that seems to be a relic from a long-ago shipwreck.  It is clear that both feel shame about their situations and that they don't feel worthy of love.

Is it possible that the diary and this relic are connected?  And if so, will the two artifacts together be enough to bring in some grant money to save the museum?

The diary between Rebecca and Captain Thackery is as good as the plot of this book. Alone, it could have made a wonderful story and I would love to see this fleshed out.

A Glitter of Gold pulled me right in!  I liked both characters and their ability to cope with all the down times they had experienced. These experiences seemed to enhance the characters, not pull them down into whiny brats.  While they tended to dance around one another when it came to a budding relationship, eventually will they be able to find love? For me, this book showed how God sends us healing in ways that are beyond our understanding and desires, if we allow ourselves to trust in His ways.

I highly recommend this book. There is still plenty of time to get to the beach and have a summer read. If you do, take this book with you.  Consider purchasing your book from me!  It is how this small blog keeps going!  Thank you!

  1. This looks like a book my wife and daughter would like. Our neighbor also does book clubs. I might recommend this to them.
