I think it is fun to host gatherings for friends. One of my favorites is the afternoon tea party but a more informal affair that doesn't require a set of gloves! I'm going to share with you my favorites for an afternoon tea party in four easy steps, including a recipe for fast and easy petit fours.
Choose a Date
Choose a date for your party and determine how many guests you can host. I like to keep mine more intimate, with 6-8 people. Send out an invite, either through Facebook or email. Ask for an Rsvp.
Plan the Menu
Determine the tea you want to serve. It can be Earl Grey, Green Tea, or any that you like. I am partial to the Republic of Teas offerings. Especially the Chamomile Rose Tea that is relaxing. It is a part of their Beautifying Botanicals line, so your friends are getting a little beauty treatment, too! Plan to have a couple of choices of tea, along with cream and lemon slices and sweetener. I like to serve two types of mini sandwiches, such as cucumber slices with cream cheese on crustless bread, either an egg or ham salad on 1/2 of a small biscuit, or a bread slice, slice of a hardboiled egg with a dollop of sour cream, sprinkled with pink sea salt. I also have a sweet, like these Fast and Easy Petit Fours or a shortbread cookie.
Icebreakers
Plan a couple of little icebreakers for your friends who don't know one another, or even if you are all best friends, a little way to get to know each other better. I like to do a thought-provoking question such as, "If you could live in any sitcom, which would it be? Or maybe, "If your life was going to be made into a movie, who would you want to play you?" These are such fun and afterward, you can choose a topic to sit back and talk about.
Party Favor
Choose a little party favor for a parting gift. You can so something as simple as a bag of tea in a card that thanks them for coming, or a cute little Dollar Tree gift that you personalize, or a couple of the Petit Fours in a see through gift bag with the recipe!
It's not hard to hold a tea party, keep it simple to focus on your friends!
