Repurposed OUI Jars #pinterestchallenge

Welcome to the January Pinterest Challenge Blog Hop, hosted by My Pinterventures. The purpose of this Pinterest Challenge is to motivate all the participants of this hop (and you too) to not just pin, but to make it happen! This month, I chose to create dipped jars as made by Emily at Our House Now a Home.  My take on it was to use repurposed Oui yogurt jars.

Upcycled paint dipped Oui jars on a fireplace mantle.

Emily's blog is one that I read regularly and when I ran across this craft, I wanted to give it a try. I have a good-sized collection of OUI yogurt jars and I have a set of them on my mantle. I thought this would be a great way to jazz those cuties up.

I decided to use a pot of sand colored paint so I could use them for many different decor situations. For example, I love the sand with my usual beachy decor, but they will also look awesome when I change it to a more Valentine-themed mantle.

This is super easy:

  • Spread some newsprint across your work surface.
  • Then cover with some cheap plastic bags.
  • Pour your paint in something you can throw away later, like a small paint can.
  • Dip your Oui container into the paint, and let the excess run off for a bit.
  • Place on the plastic bags.
  • Repeat until all your containers are painted.
  • Move them around on the plastic so the paint doesn't pool up on the bottom.
  • Once the paint is settled, let dry thoroughly.

As you can see, I chose to dry them upside down, to get some paint drips.

I placed votive candles into my jars, but you can also put small flower cuttings in them as well. Aren't they adorable?

  1. These are cute and I like how versatile they are. What kind of paint did you use and is are these dishwasher safe? Will the paint stay on when wet?
