Primary colors include red, blue and yellow. Primary colors cannot be mixed from other colors. They are the source of all other colors. Secondary colors are mixed from two primary colors adjacent to each other on the color wheel. The secondary colors are orange, green and violet. So why do we need to know about primary colors? In order to understand our world, it is important to know how we see things. Knowing color theory helps us be safer, design more efficiently and manage our health in new ways.
Through our Color Our World series, I have learned that I like ALL colors! I used to think I had a favorite color (red) but now I think blue, yellow, orange, brown, black, white, green, pink and purple are my favorites. As I have learned more about color, I have begun to appreciate color more!
In the garden primary colors provide a foundation for where your eye should land. The soft colors of pink, purples, peaches all allow our eye to roam. But when you have a solid yellow, red or blue, your eye stops and stays put for a time. Primary colors are perfect for drawing your attention!
