I watch all the award shows I can, Golden Globes, Country Music Association Awards, the SAG, The Grammys and tonight, the granddaddy of them all, the Academy Awards, affectionately known as "The Oscars." How did the Academy Awards get the nickname of The Oscars, you ask? Here's how, according to Google:
In 1929, a group called the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences decided to give awards for the best movie and acting performances of the year. The award trophy was a statuette of a man. When a secretary at the Academy first saw the statuette, she said it looked just like her uncle Oscar. In 2013, however, the Academy Awards were rebranded as The Oscars, so now the name is official!
I'll have my TV on, Twitter loaded on my iPhone and Facebook opened on my iPad, commenting back and forth with friends who are also watching at home. Good times! In case you think I am ignoring my dear husband, he will be at band practice during this time!
Tonight I will be enjoying a special drink, one that does not ruin my weight watchers points for the whole week. It is called The Cinnamon Roll. Perfect for a chilly night, with the fireplace going, and The Oscars on the tube! Only 1 point per serving!

If you are watching, I am on Twitter:
Linking to Amaze Me Monday!
That sounds yummy and looks so pretty in that glass! I will not be watching the oscars. I'll be watching The Walking Dead.
ReplyDeleteThe cocktail looks delicious. I am an Oscars fan, too. I wish events like this weren't on Sunday's. I'd love to have a party but it's a "school night". :). My favorite thing during any live event is to read twitter. Sometimes better than the show itself. Have a great week!
ReplyDeleteMy daughter, my (temporarily non-) resident film expert is pulling for Michael Keaton and Birdman. According to Anne, Julianne Moore is a "lock" for Always, Alice. I expect to be getting texts from her all evening. Enjoy the Oscars, Terri!
ReplyDeleteAnne was spot on, Ginny! I haven't seen that movie yet, so now I can't wait to see it!
ReplyDeleteFor the amount of time I spent watching it, I would have rather seen the highlights Monday morning. Seeing Lady Gaga belt out The Sound of Music was pretty amazing, though!
ReplyDeleteI got such a kick out of Twitter last night! John Travolta was not a hit, but Lady Gaga sure was!
ReplyDeleteI love it! We were a bit under the weather at my house, so no cocktails, but I sure will be trying this! We cooked sausage ragu with mushroom ravioli, and garlic bread. Oscar night is a great night to cook! Thanks for this recipe!
ReplyDeleteWe did not have a chance to attend our regular Oscar party this year and I sure missed the food :( This drink looks awesome!
ReplyDeleteWhat a delicious cocktail for such a fun tv event. Looks great!
ReplyDeleteThank you! Especially when there is work the next day, no alcohol is a good thing!
ReplyDeleteI am a huge fan of award shows as well...and your drink looks delicious! Love your doggies!
