October is National Breast Cancer Awareness month. Things are happening all around me and I want to grasp it all and say THANK YOU. It is such a mind numbing thing... learning about the diagnosis, going through treatment, asking for and receiving help from everyone, including strangers who will stop you in the street and simply say, 20 years, 15 years, 8 years.... they give me such hope and inspiration.
Walmart is selling pink light bulbs. I bought one and put it in the dining room where the light shines through the window, all day and all night. I will turn it off in November. Right now its soft glow wraps me in hope and love. I still need it.
Next week is Pink Week at school. We get to wear jeans and t shirts that relate to any type of cancer. I am having a hard time deciding which shirts to wear. So many of us have had to deal with cancer in our lives, losing children, spouses, and parents to the disease. Our jeans week money goes to Relay for Life.

HI TERRI!! Pink light bulbs at Walmart, huh? I will go get one...that's an awesome idea!! I mentioned you in my Pink Sat. post this weekend...I meant what I said!
ReplyDeleteHave a great week!

Terri, this post really touched me. Sending you a big hug.
ReplyDeleteIt's wonderful to see all the support that everyone is giving for breast cancer awareness this month, even the football teams! I've been working on banners and signs for my team in the Making Strides Against Breast Cancer walk on the 30th. This will be the 4th year George and I have participated. I am a 4-1/2 year survivor!!!!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteHugs,
Kat
I clipped coupons to buy items packaged in pink this week. I hope that means that some of the money goes to cancer research.
ReplyDeleteI love that you will have that pink glow all month long! I just might do that too....

Terri, I hope that you feel wrapped in loving warmth every single day. It's not easy to go through the process of recovery and there have to be some residual fears and concerns (I know this because of my mom's experience). The bravest people I know are survivors. Walk boldly and confidently and keep spreading the good word. Gentle hugs...
ReplyDeleteSo many tough and amazing women out there, like my mother in law. A four year survivor, so far!
ReplyDeleteTerri, I was at our local True Value today and Janie and I saw pink solar powered sidewalk lights. She thought they were the coolest thing she had ever seen. It made us think of you! Hope you are well!!
