Halloween Memories

We didn't have the money to buy store costumes but I remember one time that we did and how we hated the masks and the itchy costume.  I remember we begged and begged for those costumes.

Tuesday night is the showing of The Great Pumpkin. I LOVE THIS SHOW. I remember my dad making popcorn and letting us have pop even though we'd go to bed right after the show. I don't think I have missed a year of watching it!

Maybe I will save it for Halloween night. Whatever I decide to do, I will be perfectly contended to sit on the sofa with my sweetie with some popcorn and pop and watch Linus try to convince his friends of the Great Pumpkin.
I can't wait.

  1. Hi Terri. I loved your Halloween memories. I identified so much with them. Halloween was huge at our home, too. In those days, we could dress up for school parties and have the best time there...parents made wonderful goodies and we just partied the afternoon away. We always had either homemade or self-created outfits. No store bought stuff for us. We lived in a tiny town....everyone knew everyone. We would head out at dusk on HW evening...with empty pillowcases. We spent, what seemed like hours, hitting every single door in town. Before it was over, our pillowcases were loaded with goodies!! Lots of store candy and lots of homemade goodies..popcorn balls and cookies. Some folks even tossed in pennies and nickels. Then, we three siblings would spend hours "sorting" our loot and trading with each other...trying to stock up on our favorites.

Thanks for stirring the "memory pot" for me!!!

Hope you're having a great day. L, Dana

  4. John insisted upon watching. I thought he was loopy, but we all, including my mother, had a great time watching. It was just as fresh and sweet as the first times I watched it.
