Ashley and I headed out for a much needed day away. We headed to Lexington, a small town in Northwest Missouri that has a lot to offer those who like history.
We toured the Anderson House on the the site of the Battle of Lexington. We saw bullet holes and grape shot holes. There were even blood stains on the wood floor. The antiques were lovely as well. Our favorite place was the gardens.
We had lunch at the Victoria Tea Parlor.... excellent~! Look at our good food!
After lunch we browsed in a couple of neat antique stores and then drove around the town looking at awesome Victorian homes. Ashley slept all the way home!

Looks like a wonderful day, Terri!
ReplyDeleteIt sounds like you had a marvelous time, Terri! The food looks delicious. My husband would have enjoyed Anderson House. He is a true history buff! Love your pictures! Hope Ashley had a good time, too!

It sounds like a wonderful day Terri. You're so very lucky to be able to see your daughter all the time. I sure wish I could. But...I'm doing the happy dance tonight. Bree called this morning and surprised us by telling us that she's coming home this weekend. Yippee!

What a wonderful trip! That is exactly the kind of thing I love to do!
ReplyDeleteLexington is such a fun town to visit!!! When I was in 8th grade our class trip was a visit to watch the re-enactment of The Battle of the Hemp Bales/aka The Battle of Lexington...right in the area of the Anderson House (I think...that was a long time ago!!)
ReplyDeleteYears later, I returned to Lexington to have one of the first booths in The Missouri River Antique Co. Sue, who owns the store now, is very sweet!! I loved being in the shop, but it was just too far away for me to keep my booth looking nice.
I've had many a lunch at the same location you and Ashley dined! Did you visit The Velvet Pumpkin? Georgia is the owner of that place and a clothing store....she's also a sweetheart.
I loved your July 4th post..it looks like your family had the perfect celebration!
I hope you have a great trip to the lake....one day you will have to come to the sale I posted about. You would love it!
Have a good weekend! L, Dana
What a nice day to share together. You must've worn Ashley out. Blood stains on the floor might have freaked me out, but as long as there weren't any in the garden, all would be well.
