The folks in my neighborhood are crazy about Stella d' Oro lilies. They are everywhere and they are blooming strong! I am guessing that like us, our neighbors needed a plant that didn't need a lot of care!
To keep Stellas blooming all summer long, all you need to do is a little deadheading. This link
will take you to a site that will show you how to properly deadhead a daylily!
I should point out that the Stellas by the flag are mine... the others belong to our neighbors, including the dog!
Lovely photos and mosaic! I love the Stella d'Oro lilies. Thanks for the link, I didn't know about deadheading the lilies.

ReplyDeleteYour neighbourhood has chosen a reliable reblooming daylily.
ReplyDeleteI have a chocolate that must be an offspring of Stella's - very pretty.

A friend is thinning her daylilies out and will be giving me a bunch any day. I cannot wait as they are beautiful and able to handle being somewhat shaded. Beautiful neighborhood.
ReplyDeleteI love any kind of lilies in the summertime!

I grow them here in Canada too. They smell lovely and are so reliable.
ReplyDeleteFor me, a brown thumbed gardener, these lilies might just fill the bill. If they are as hardy as you say, even I couldn't kill them off! LOL
ReplyDeleteThe photos of your neighborhood are lovely. Including the dog..... *grin*
That looks like a lot of deadheading but they are really lovely.
ReplyDeleteWonderful mosaic, thanks for the tip :)

They are so cheerful, and you are right... they are a carefree plant. Perfect for busy people!
ReplyDeleteI just bought two pots of them at the supermarket for $7.95 each! I'm hoping I can keep them in pots on the deck; otherwise the deer will eat them for sure! Lovely mosaic! :)
