Week Two Recovery
This week has me quite a bit stronger but still needing a lot of rest. There were a couple of times when I overextended myself but I learned from those mistakes.
I had two drainage tubes removed on Monday.
OMG.
I responded by getting the giggles. Poor Bob was left to deal with the lunatic woman who laughs in the face of extruciating pain. (however, still #2 to the flu test) I have never had anything so barbaric done to me before. No numbing the site, no nothing except, one, two, three, pull.
Oh well, it is done and I survived it. Bob called me brave. Can you be brave when you really don't have a choice?
Tomorrow stitches are going to be removed. I wonder how brave I will be? I am thinking that I will be just fine.

I was worried about having staples removed after one of my surgeries and that ended up feeling weird but nearly painless.
ReplyDeleteI think your stitches should be easy...
Please take it easy and avoid people who aren't feeling well. Take care of yourself.

Terri, I am keeping you in much prayer. I am so sorry that you are having to go through this...so sorry.
ReplyDeleteLove, Barb ♥
You know what? I'm thinking you're going to be just fine, too Terri! I remember that old one two three and away we go (with the drainage tube) only my surgeon pulled on two...no, that was definitely not fun...you are a brave girl! Here's your medal!!!

I think the stitches will be easier the the drainage tubes. At least that's my experience. And you are brave. You could have hit him over the head at the count of two and knocked him out. ha! You're cool.
ReplyDeleteI recall when my close friend had her mastectomy and was sent home with the drainage tube. I thought it was awful, but she dealt with it in the same manner you did....it was just one of the many steps on the road to being healthy! It certainly is not a piece of cake, but you "get through it". Yes, I agree, you will do JUST FINE!!!
ReplyDeleteI hope you do make it to B.Springs some day. . .and maybe we could meet for lunch!!! Now, how tempting does THAT sound? :)
Keeping you in my thoughts and prayers....dana
I can't tell you how much it means to me, to follow your journey, Terri! You are brave and strong!!
ReplyDeleteI was in the room, when they removed the drain, from Jim, after his cancer surgery last year. No prep, just like you said...one two three pull. The nurse was standing beside me and looked over at me. I'm sure she thought I might faint!!:-)
Keeping you in my thoughts and prayers.
We'll be on our way to Branson, Monday. Still on my little bloggy break.
Oh Terri, sweetheart you were/are brave even if you didn't/don't feel like it. Sweetie you are in my prayers. Wishing you a lovely relaxing pain free day, and sending hugs your way!
ReplyDeleteAmanda (aka Cottage Contessa)
Yikes! I bet if the doctor or nurse was having it done to them, they would use some numbing meds!
ReplyDeleteSo glad it's over.
You ARE brave!
Hugs!

I have been traveling too much lately...so I apologize in advance for quoting SkyMall...
ReplyDeleteJust when she thought her world was over...she became a butterfly.
"Can you be brave when you don't have a choice?" You have chosen to not let the pain and worry overtake your life. You chose to run into the burning building and make s'mores. (Sounded more brave then the "life gives you lemons..." quote).
Love you,
Nephew David...too lazy to log out and log back in
Terri...ooooh okay...I have a lot of catching up to do. I thought your blog went poof when I couldn't contact you. Wow...do I need to SLOW DOWN.
ReplyDeleteMy thoughts and prayers are with you Darlin' and I'm glad you were one of the winners of my first Giftaway...there's plenty more to come so keep checking back!!
Big Big HUGS,
Robin
Hope everything went well! Stitches aren't as bad as the tubes are they?
ReplyDeleteWho, YOU, over-extend yourself???
ReplyDeleteI am shocked, SHOCKED, I tell you!!
NOT!!
Please relax, missy. PLEASE. The world will not come to an end if you have three particles of dust in the house.
In fact, you can have INCHES of dust on every horizontal surface and about the only thing that happens is your husband seems to sneeze more often.
Not that I'd know anything about that, but so I have been told and it's probably coincidental anyway.
So relax already!!!
Just stopping by to wish you the HAPPIEST Birthday ever!!!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteHugs!!
Judy
Had to come in to SING you HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOU...HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOU...HAPPY BIRTHDAY DEAR TERRRRRRI...HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOU!!!!
ReplyDeleteBig warm healing hugs and an extra little squeeze

Hi Terri, Somehow I missed this latest post. I admire your strength during this difficult time and I continue to pray for your speedy recovery. I want to wish you all a nice Thanksgiving. You are a real inspiration to so many. God bless.
ReplyDeleteDear Terri, I cringed as I read your description of the tube removal! You are brave, my dear.
ReplyDeleteI sat with my granddaughter as she went through 'the test' for flu and almost cried out loud for her!
Years ago I had both feet surgically repaired (horrific bunions) and when I returned three weeks later to have the pins removed, I had basically the same experience as you with the tubes! Gads!
Hang in there, many many folks are pulling for you and GO TIGERS!
They can send men to the moon but they can't pull out a tube without it giving any pain...go figure! lol No doubt you were VERY glad to have it done and over it, it sounded so painful:-( My thoughts and prayers continue to be with you, dear Terri. Isn't it unbelievable what we can go through and still survive:-)
ReplyDeleteI also wanted to let you know that I haven't forgotten that you're one of my Pay It Forward participants...I was waiting until it was a bit closer to Christmas to send you a little something I made. It will be posted in the mail in the next few days:-) xoxo
