Julie and Julia

LOVED the movie Julie and Julia. In my opinion, I liked the movie better than the book! I thought the movie softened the book quite a bit. Bob enjoyed it too, so much that he made Au Fromage (on page 126 of the Mastering the Art of French Cooking) for breakfast. The eggs were fabulous and so creamy and good.

On Sunday we will be attempting Boeuf Bourguignon (beef stew) on page 315. This stew was featured in the movie. We are going to visit our local butcher rather than buy the meat from the grocery store, so we are making our own adventure from the experience!

We are also checking out the bakeries in Columbia for some good bread to eat with it. Don't want to miss out on any of the good juices!

While we loved the movie and we love to cook... I don't see us working our way through the cookbook anytime soon... aspic just doesn't sound all that appetizing to me!

Now I want the Julia Child TV series on DVD... hoping Bob can find those for my Christmas present!!

Would you like to comment?

  2. I LOVED the movie too. I want to try the beef stew too. Didn't the movie make you want to cook...and eat...and drink a martini? LOL

Can't wait to see and hear how yours turns out.

    Happy weekend hugs!
