Pink Saturday!
I am participating in Pink Saturday for the first time. I don't use a lot of pink so I thought I would have a difficult time participating in this blogging event. NOT! After I started really looking, I was amazed at what all I found! I decided to share this photo with you...
This shell is very special to me. Bob and I went on a barefoot cruise to the Bahamas in the early 80s. This adventure was one of the most fun times of my life. I did so many things that were outside my box that it had a very profound affect on my life. I actually dove into the ocean and pulled this up from the ocean floor. We were collecting conch for a salad. This was the first shell I went for. I hammered out the meat and then spent HOURS cleaning the gunk and stuff off the shell. It rests in my bathroom right on my jetted tub. I love staring at it when I bathe!

Very pretty and pink! Your trip sounds heavenly.
ReplyDeleteHi Terri,
ReplyDeleteSounds wonderful. I have never been to the Bahamas. But getting outside your comfort zone is always a good idea, causes you to stretch and grow. I remember the first time I got on a motorcycle. I was 41 years old and it scared me to death! I love it now. Happy first pink saturday! Have fun.
Lorri

ReplyDeleteWhat a great momento to have of your trip. It sounds wonderful. I never had conch but digging for clams and eating them in Maine and enjoying their freshness must be similiar to what you experienced. Great fun! Happy Pink Saturday!

The story behind your shell is great! It makes us feel so good about ourselves to stretch the comfort zone a bit. I am curious about the term "barefoot cruise". Is that different than a regular cruise? It sounds like you had a great time and the Bahamas is such a beautiful place.

ReplyDeletePretty natural pink of the conch shell... lovely. We visited the Bahamas in the early 1980's too... I never knew you could have so many different dishes from conch... salad, fritters, baked, grilled, fried... by the end of the second week I was happy to find a McDonald's in Nassau! Thanks for the stroll down memory lane! Dixie
