Craft (room) Closet
Laura at Decor to Adore showed us pictures of craft rooms today. I thought I would add her link here so you could go and visit her ideas, too!
My craft room used to be located in an unfinished room in the dark recesses of my basement. While it was roomy and cool (a definite must for this 50 year old...) it was NOT inspiring at all!
One day while in my study, printing pictures from the computer that I would carry two flights of steps down to scrapbook, I looked up and saw the nice sized closet as if for the first time... and realized that it would make a "cozy" craft room. I didn't even tell Bob, I just started emptying out the file cabinets that were in there and relocating other items that were stored there. Then I went out and purchased some fabric for the poles and started organizing. This is the end result!
I have had my craft closet for nearly two years now and I love it. The closet is located close to my computer and printer and has made crafting a bit easier. It is prettier, and therefore, more inspiring for me.
On occasion my craft closet looks like this: but I recently reorganized so it looks like it does above!

Very nice!
ReplyDeleteI have my things in different places all through the house. When the kids move out...someday...I will take over a room!
Wow, glad I stopped by today as I'm leaving for IKEA in an hour to check out stuff for my craft area. I'll check out her link - maybe I'll get some ideas (cause right now I have none LOL).
ReplyDeleteYour craft room looks great!

From Laura:
ReplyDeleteYou are such an ADORABLE and CREATIVE person. :) I love your craft room clever girl!
I don't have a craft room. (The older posts have shown what my kitchen looks like during a crafting session.)
The only happy part of the Fashionista (our daughter) leaving home will be the transformation to a guest and craft room. I am already in the planning stages.
Sorry, I accidently deleted your post!
What a super idea! Nothing to shutting the door and it's not taking up tons of space nor a spare bedroom. Wish I had a spare closet...
ReplyDeleteWhat a great ideal! I could have a craft closet real easy. Thank you!!
ReplyDeleteHow smart you are, and what a nice, big closet you have! It's wonderful that, if you make a mess, you can just close the door! Thank you for wharing this great idea. laurie
ReplyDeleteHi Terri, I just measured and the top of the chair rail is 31 inches up from the floor. It was already there, I just had someone install the picture molding underneath. The picture molding was installed "centered" between the baseboard and the chair rail. The reason folks add the picture molding when painting under a chair rail is to suppposedly give it more a "paneled" look under the chair rail.
ReplyDeleteThe reason I caulked is whenever you have any kind of molding installed, you have to caulk all around it prior to painting it or the surface it is installed on. If I just painted the wall and new picture molding without caulking, there would be cracks where the molding meets the wall and it wouldn't look good. :-)

Great idea!!! When things are organized and close at hand, it makes crafting and scrapbooking so much more fun.

I love your craft closet. I am in the process of trying to find a place for my "stuff". I was in the basement too and it just felt depressing. I need to have sunlight so I need to find a place in this little house where I can leave things out and kids and grandkids won't touch and husband won't pile his tools on my white vintage linens. (yes he does and doesn't have a clue why I freak out)
ReplyDeleteSomeday I'll find somewhere for me.

Gosh I wish I had a space to do this. I throw everything in the corner of my spare bedroom then I hate to go in there. Great idea!!
ReplyDeleteYou know my favorite picture is the last one;)
ReplyDeleteGreat idea!!!
I am envious!
ReplyDeleteRenee
I'm loving this idea! It came out so cute too!
ReplyDeleteHugs,

This is a wonderful spot! I have long thought about doingf this in my closet...heck, I am not the clothes lover I once was...I would rather have that space for this!
ReplyDeleteI keep telling Dan that when he moves out I will take his closet for clothes and have fun with mine! : )
I think your space is wonderful...just like YOU!
Love,
Sue
I'm glad you had this post linked on today's post (May 13th!!). What a great location for your crafts! I giggled over the second photo---as I have a huge room in the basement that is all MINE, but it is a rat's nest right now. Just imagine your little piles multiplied by a gazillion and you would have MY craft room..... I MUST address that mess. HOWEVER, that is a plus of having the room in the basement and out of public view!
