Today is our 31st anniversary! We were married in 1977, a beautiful day at a country Catholic church with nearly 500 in attendance. A day to remember. In the middle of the ceremony our priest said our marriage wouldn't last (too much pomp and circumstance for him). Hmmm.... guess God had other plans?(!)
This was the only outdoor picture we have and I really love it. The delicate lace pattern really shows through on that HAT.
What a cake! In the 70s, this was quite the cake! It was delicious, too. My great, great grandmother made this crocheted tablecloth. It was so delicate and beautiful. Crepe paper was the thing, too....
This is our wedding party.... my sister Tammi stood with me and Bob's brother Gary stood with him. Aren't you crazy for those blue tuxedos? We also had pink and lavendar dresses for the bridesmaids.
Right before we left for our honeymoon! Look at that car! Look at that waist??? Whatever happened to THAT? Bob's suit was tailor made for him. It was a beautiful suit.

ReplyDeleteWe had a *rainbow* wedding too! The bridesmaids were in pink, blue, mint and yellow. The guys had ruffled shorts that matched. Oh yeah...ruffles. The 70s were a scene man...a scene! *laugh* We were married in 1978, one year after you two. My Grandmother did not think it would last...we were TOO young she said. Bill was 22, I was 21. : )
I hope your special day is a sweet one. You are both so very special.
Love,
Sue

That was that older priest from Wien, wasn't it? It sure sounds like him if not... Oh, well... he no doubt meant well and would may be even take the credit for making you think hard about it... haha.. Congratulations. Those seventies... blue tuxedoes, cakes with bridges.... kinda deja vu for me, too... only the priest was right in my case.... anyway, Happy Anniversary to a great couple...
ReplyDeleteOooooh I missed it... But Happy Belated Anniversary. Here's to 31 more!

Happy Anniversary. I love the original pictures of your wonderful day. If that priest is still alive, I think I would have to send him a note to remind him what he said. I love to prove people wrong. To 31 more...

ReplyDeleteI'm totally diggin' the tuxedos. LOLOLOL They were sure dashing back then, though, weren't they? You both looked stunning, though. The cake, the flowers, the hat, the dress, the tux...all of it was gorgeous. Great pictures.

Congratulations on a milestone wedding anniversary...something you don't see as often as we used to....MAN oh MAN...I remember all those things...we too, were married in a big ole Catholic Church...by none other than a Catholic priest and a Presbyterian minister...wow...talk about the priest not thinking that our marriage would last...I was marrying a protestant!! My how things have changed...I loved seeing all the photos from your wedding...I loved the cake...and the crocheted tablecloth your grandmother made...how special that had to be. My lovin' hubbin also had a hand tailored suit...must have been the thing in the 70's...OH! and my guys wore burgandy tuxes with pale pink shirts...but not hubbin he wore a white shirt...b/c after all he was the groom!
ReplyDeleteBlessings and Congrats...
Teresa
