I am in love with doing these journals where I write only one sentence a day. I have been doing them since summer started, here are May, June, July and now, here is August. It is so easy to do one sentence and I am learning to be a better writer as I work on making my sentences good ones!
Just write one summarizing sentence about each day. It can be an event, a feeling, a thought, a blessing, whatever you want to write down for that day. Take your time, compose well and happy writing!
September 1. As eager as I am for fall, I have to wonder, how did summer slip away so quickly?
September 2. Our high school has one of the longest football rivalries in the United States, which makes winning tonight all the sweeter!
September 3. The Saturday of a three day weekend feels like bonus time!
September 4. Spending a good amount of quality time with friends is good medicine for our souls.
September 5. Labor Day was so much fun with having friends over for a BBQ and then having our monthly book club at our house!
September 6. Today would have been my dad's 80's birthday and while we miss him, we would not want him here in the pain his was in at the end of his life. Happy birthday, dad.
September 7. I love it when a work trip becomes a special opportunity to work with colleagues on things that really matter, like giving our educational leaders some outstanding training!
September 8. I was fortunate to attend the Region 2 DESE meeting tonight and listen to our state's educational leaders ask good questions about what education should look like in the future in Missouri.
September 9. A much needed, so much fun day with eating out, seeing a movie and just hanging out with my best friend!
September 10. I enjoyed my book club with my PEO friends today and had a wonderful time with my family at Tenacious Eats and Ferris Bueller's Day Off!
September 11. Being honored for surviving cancer is such a twixt of feelings: one, am I just one of the lucky ones or two, do I have a purpose that I haven't yet identified? Either which makes being honored feel slightly wrong.
September 12. Being in PEO is such a blessing in my life, serving women's education with like minded women is one of my life's blessings!
September 13. Today I worked with a small but dedicated group of principals who want nothing more than to make education in their buildings to be the best it can be.
September 14. The students in my classroom management class are quiet in class, but their writings show that they are deeply involved and committed to improving their practice.
September 15. I loved having dinner with my PEO sisters at the Japanese steakhouse tonight and meeting new women who may become one of my future sisters!
September 16. Dinner with friends, in a beautiful setting, is a wonderful, wonderful thing.
September 17. Tonight my husband's band debuted with their new lead singer and while I sometimes was nostalgic for the "old days" I found myself eager to hear more and more songs as the night went on!
September 18. I had the most wonderful time learning how to cut onion, make a tourne, cut up a cornish hen, and overall just had the very best time ever with a neighborhood friend who happens to be a trained chef!
September 19. Today was very interesting as I became part of a team heading out to a district with the specific mission to find ways for districts to focus on their strengths and attend to their areas of concern.
September 20. I spent the day with other colleagues working on how to write the best instruction for the standards we are to teach kids.
September 21. I used what I learned yesterday to help another district with the same issue, but it fell flat. I was not happy with my own work and certainly will work to improve this process.
September 22. My morning was filled with such fun, I spent time with a second year principal who has what I call, with-it-ness, something that can't be taught but is so important to leadership!
September 23. Enjoyed buying my first LulaRoe dress from a party tonight!
September 24. Bob's band played at Perryville and really rocked the house! We ate at the wonderful Mary Jane's, too, one of Missouri's more eclectic places to eat!
September 25. We wrapped up the weekend with a nod to Beethoven at the Symphony and learned about his piano concertos. It was a beautiful ending to the weekend.
September 26. The difference a day makes! Head cold, sinus congestion, fever.
September 27. I feel so much better, enough that I was able to participate in my work's conference call and go to the school I had scheduled that afternoon. Working with dedicated teachers energizes me!
September 28. I love the feeling of a clean home, something about power washing and scrubbing the year's dirt away makes me feel awesome!
September 29. Does it count as a day off if you answer work emails and phone calls?
September 30. This month absolutely flew by, taking with it a small chunk of my fall which I am not ready to part with!
Next month I am going to be changing it up a little bit and I'm contemplating writing on a 31 Day Challenge with Heather at Townsend House. We'll see how that goes!

What a great project, Terri.
ReplyDeleteBTW, The FnF post is up: here.
Thanks for participating this month!!!!
This is cool. I've never tried doing sentence a day writing, but I may have to give it a go. I've definitely enjoyed reading yours. Nice to meet you. :-)
ReplyDeleteThis is such a good idea! I bet you can remember a lot that happened on those days just by reading your one sentence.
ReplyDeleteI love this idea! What a nice way to look back at your days. It's kind of like a diary, but without filling up the pages. So clever!
ReplyDeleteOkay, I am so in love with idea. I may actually be able to journal this way! Perfect for me
ReplyDeleteThis is such a cool idea! Basically you told a small story in just 30 sentences!
ReplyDeleteI am so sorry for your dad, I know how you feel!
And no, a day off is when you don't think about work.
This seems like a fun idea! I would love to do something like this. I wonder if I could do it for October I think that would be a lot of fun to look back on! - Jeanine
ReplyDeleteWriting has always been such an outlet for me that I love this idea. I actually started blogging to be able to vent about being diagnosed with a chronic medical condition in 2009.
ReplyDeleteThat is so awesome. I think that is really cool. What a neat way to journal, thank you so much for sharing.
ReplyDeleteI absolutely love this idea! I try to write a little each day, but sometimes do not get a chance. One sentence a day is a GREAT idea! :-)
ReplyDeleteThis is an awesome creative writing idea! I miss the 3 day weekend. My Husand's next time off is Thanksgiving. That's too far away.
ReplyDeleteI love writing and this would be a really great idea. I'm so interested in doing this, and see how my month went after the entire thing. It's a good way to think about your blessings for that day too.
ReplyDeleteOh, your September sounds like a fun month! This is a lovely writing, will wait for your October month post.
ReplyDeleteGosh you're so disciplined. I have the one line a day notebook and I could barely do it for a week!
ReplyDeleteWhat a great idea! I've started bullet journaling and this would be perfect to include!
